The Meirionnydd Artists Society was established in 1958 as the County Art Society. It is now a registered charity. Its aim is to provide opportunities for practicing Artists to exhibit their work and to encourage new Artists to develop their talents.
To this end, regular day schools are held each month under the guidance of qualified tutors on a wide variety of subjects and using various painting media.
The Day Schools are held at various locations and whenever possible in the open air. Annual Summer Exhibitions are held in Dolgellau and Harlech alternately and at the Barmouth Arts Festival. The Exhibition enjoys a high reputation for the standard of work and is a considerable tourist attraction.
If numbers allow, outings are organised to galleries and exhibitions at home and abroad.
Membership is open to all Artists resident in Meirionnydd. Other interested artists can apply to the committee for membership. Young people are welcome to attend day schools at a reduced fee. |
